Orientation Details

Tuesday's session will include breakfast and lunch for the new faculty.  The New Faculty will be introduced to the University and its teaching, research, and service activities.  We will address important topics in more detail, including:  Faculty support at the U of A; Research Resources and Success, including registering for Pivot; Student Engagement; our Academic Integrity Policy; Title IX (which is mandatory for all faculty); teaching a diverse student body; and overall Faculty Development Resources.  Both tenure track and non-tenure track faculty are  required to attend the orientation. We cannot emphasize enough how important attendance will be.

Once again service tables will be maintained by a variety of campus departments and activities.  Please also inform all new faculty that Human Resources and University Relations have scheduled separate dates and times for informational sessions on UA benefits and official university portraits.  There will be four different UA benefits sesssions to choose from:  Monday, August 19, 2019, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (ARKU 310) or 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (ARKU 310) and Wednesday, August 21, 2019, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (ARKU 310) or 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. (ARKU 310).  The will need to contact Human Resources to sign up for one of these benefits sessions. University Relations willl have normal open studio hours from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday of each week.  They will also be open the week of New Faculty Orientation on Thursday, August 22, and Friday, August 23, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  You do not need to make an appointment during these times.  They ask that you please dress professionally for this portrait. They suggest that if you choose to wear an all-white shirt or blouse that you bring a jacket to wear over it. Solids are best, but simple patterns are O.K.  For any questions or more information, please contact the photography department at
